Our Methodology
How we collect, verify, and present information on PetCare Malaysia.
PetCare Malaysia is committed to providing accurate, useful information for pet owners across the country. This page explains how we collect, verify, and present provider, cost, and treatment information.
How clinic listings are collected: We compile veterinary clinic listings from publicly available sources, including official clinic websites, Google Business Profiles, and veterinary association directories. Each listing is reviewed before publication. We do not accept payment for inclusion in our directory.
What 'verified' means: A clinic is marked 'verified' when its core identity data — clinic name, address, and phone number — has been confirmed against a reliable primary source, such as the clinic's official website or Google Business Profile. Verification does not imply medical endorsement or quality ranking.
What 'partially verified' means: A clinic is marked 'partially verified' when some identity data is confirmed but service or operating hour claims remain incomplete or unverified. Only confirmed fields are displayed publicly.
How 24-hour claims are checked: A 24-hour operating claim requires confirmation from the clinic's official website, official social media, or direct contact. We do not infer 24-hour status from late closing hours or third-party aggregators. Unverified 24-hour claims are not displayed.
How emergency-care claims are checked: Emergency service claims are verified separately from 24-hour status. A clinic may provide emergency care without operating 24/7. We confirm emergency service through the clinic's official channels and do not infer it from operating hours.
How treatment costs are sourced: Cost data is collected from publicly available veterinary price lists, verified clinic submissions, and industry surveys. Each cost record links to its source and includes a retrieval date. We separate published prices from observed ranges and editorial estimates.
How price ranges are calculated: When multiple verified sources provide pricing for the same treatment, we construct an observed range. When evidence is limited, we label the data as 'insufficient' rather than filling gaps with plausible figures. Confidence levels (high, medium, low, insufficient) reflect the quality and recency of sources.
How stale information is handled: Each provider and cost record has a 'last checked' date. General identity data is reviewed every 6 months. 24-hour status, emergency service, and opening hours are reviewed every 90 days. When data is overdue for review, we display a 'last checked' date and avoid presenting stale claims as current.
Limitations of the data: Our data may not reflect recent changes to clinic operations, pricing, or services. Veterinary fees vary by clinic, severity, diagnostics, and treatment requirements. We recommend contacting clinics directly to confirm current pricing and availability.
How users can report corrections: If you find incorrect information, you can submit a correction through our correction form. Corrections are reviewed by our team before being applied. We do not automatically publish user-submitted corrections without verification.
How frequently information is reviewed: Provider identity is reviewed every 6 months. Operating hours, 24-hour status, and emergency service claims are reviewed every 90 days. Cost data is reviewed when sources are updated or at least annually.
